MA Final Collection - #GIRLGANG

Since I haven't posting anything for over a year, I thought I should fill you in on what has been going on in my life.

When I was writing a lot of the last posts on this blog, I was feeling very uninspired, and I just wasn't myself. This was because I was still grieving from the passing of my father in September 2016. I was trying so hard to just carry on with life, not realising that I wasn't letting myself grieve properly. So, I stopped writing this blog, and made the decision to put myself & my family first, and then to apply for a Masters course (Fashion & Textiles MA at De Montfort University).

The Masters course has been the turning point for me, over the past year. It has helped me to become myself again, and has given me the confidence the believe in my design work, after my father passing in the same week as my BA graduation.
Throughout my MA course, I have explored working with faux fur and have taken business modules, so I could learn how to start my own fashion brand. This is what I am trying to start, now I have finished my MA.

So, that's it really. I mostly took the blog break to grieve, spend time with my family and to complete my Masters course. I feel ready to come back to my blog now - which had felt like a chore not a hobby - with so much enthusiasm and ideas.

If you want to see more of my MA work, look at my website shannonannefurniss.co.uk, or design Instagram @sf_fashiondesign. I have included images of my final collection within this post too.

See you guys on Sunday!

As my graduation day is fast approaching and so is many others, I thought that I would share some outfit ideas, as it can be difficult to decide on what to wear. I have my outfit already sorted, which you will be having a blog post about after my graduation day, but I thought that I would share 6 different looks for people who might be stuck with what to wear.
These are just ideas, but you can find alternatives for whatever your budget may be. As long as your outfit is semi-formal and comfortable, you will be find. The only tips I would give you are to make sure you can walk in your heels, if you are wearing some, and don't try something new on the day. Your graduation day isn't the day you want to start experimenting with your style.

Anyway, I hope you find some inspiration from my outfit ideas.

Hey everyone!
I'm finally free from university & I now have time to blog. Yay!

I will be doing an in-depth blog post about my overall university experience, at a later point, but I thought that I would share some photos/thoughts from the final parts of my course.
(Just to warn you, it will be a photo-heavy post!)

Today, I felt like doing a chatty style post, and this has been on my to-do list (blog-wise) for a while, so here it goes.

As I am going into my third & final year of university, I have come to realise that I don't have a work space that inspires me, in my university house bedroom. I have a desk and plenty of wall space around me, it just is cluttered in stuff that doesn't inspire me. I decided that when I go back, I am going to try & create a more inspiring (& less cluttered) space for me to work in.
So off to Pinterest I went, for some inspiration, which gave me some great ideas for my work space, and I thought that I would share them with you all.

As a 2nd year Fashion Design Student, I thought that I would give you five books that would be helpful to any fashion design student to own. I have three of them myself, and loaned the other two out of libraries many of times. They all have different purposes and are great for fashion design beginners to post-grads.

Digital fabric print i've been working on.

As some of you may have noticed, I haven't been blogging for around two months. Nothing serious has happened to make me stop, I just needed a break from blogging, so that I could get back into university life after the summer. Second year is a lot more full on and I now live in a house, which is a lot harder to maintain that a couple of rooms in halls!

This one is my top five beauty products that I couldn't live without at Uni.
Some, I use for other purposes, not just there intended. However, all of them are staples in my Uni life.

As I have now offically finished my first year of university, I thought that I would pass on my freshers week wisdom. Moving away from home, into accomodation with people you don't know, can be really terrifying. This can make Freshers week and first term quite stressful to even think about.
So here are my top tips for Fresher Week and the begining of first term.
