Tag/Tell-all Tuesday - Top tips for Freshers Week.
As I have now offically finished my first year of university, I thought that I would pass on my freshers week wisdom. Moving away from home, into accomodation with people you don't know, can be really terrifying. This can make Freshers week and first term quite stressful to even think about.
So here are my top tips for Fresher Week and the begining of first term.
That is my top tips for Freshers Week and the first term of University.

So here are my top tips for Fresher Week and the begining of first term.
1 - Try and be social on the first night/week.
Everyone is in the same position and is nervous to make the first move. You have to try and get to know people fast during Freshers, as you will be living with them and going out during that week with them. I would recommend making a pact with someone you get on with, so that you take care of each other on nights out, as you will be getting very drunk that week! Plus, try and hang out in the common areas like kitchen/living room, so that you can get to know the people you will be living with for the year.
2 - Try and be sensible with drink (which is hard).
Now, I don't mean 'not get wasted/drunk', I mean to not go over budget and drink safely. Set yourself a budget for Freshers and stick to it. It will be an expensive week, so try and stick to a budget for food & drink. Plus, try and bring alcohol with you to university for predrinks, as it can be a great conversation starter on the first night too! Also, go to the Freshers Fair as you can get free food and vouchers to help you during the first term. I also said drink safely, which means watch your drinks in club as they can be spiked (I know it's not nice to say), know your limits and always stay together with people you go out with (make sure someone knows where you are going, if you are going back to someone elses!).
3 - Add personal touches to your room.
By adding photos, trinkets and other personal items, you will feel more relaxed about moving away from home. This will then help you feel better and maybe a little more confident to speak to new people on the first day/night. Plus, if someone knocks on your door to get to know you, invite them into your room as some of your personal items could trigger a conversation about your life. However, don't constantly talk about your previous life before uni, try and make new memories with your new uni friends instead.
4 - Freshers Flu is real.
Yes, the horrid Freshers Flu. I did 'catch' it. You get it from being around new germs, less sleep, lack of food (drinking instead of eating) and early mornings for freshers fair/welcome days etc. My tip for keeping the freshers flu at bay is taking Vitamin C tablets and eating the right amount. Eating is self-explanatory and the Vitamin C tablets help to keep your immune system strong. After catching Freshers Flu, I took Vitamin C tablets regularly and I noticed that I didn't catch as many illnesses as I normally would.
So it must of been them!
