Blogmas 2013 - Day three - Christmas wreath DIY

A DIY Christmas wreath

So, I thought for today's blogmas post, I would do a festive DIY. As a student, I know that I don't have much money to spend on making my room/halls/flat/house etc, look festive. So, with a few scraps of material, xmas wrapping paper, cardboard and wool; I created this Christmas wreath, which you can hang up anywhere indoors.
It's also a great DIY to do with children and if you like to have a more handmade Christmas.

Listen to my Christmas Playlist whilst creating your wreaths to help get you into the festive spirit!
Yesterday's blogmas post was all about my playlist.

What you will need
- Two circular objects, one smaller than the other, to draw around
- Cardboard
- Cutting mat and knife/ or scissors
- Pen/pencil
- String
- Stapler
- Fabrics/wools/yarns in your chosen festive colours
- Christmas wrapping paper
- Double sided tape
- Christmas tags (optional)
- Other decorative Christmas items (optional)

How to make the wreath.

Draw around your larger circular object on the cardboard.

Then on the inside of the drawn circle, draw around your smaller circular object, making sure that is as central as you can get it.

Carefully cut around the larger circle and then the central circle, so that you are left with a ring.

Create a loop with a small piece of string. Make sure that it is long enough to hang your wreath.

Using a stapler, staple the string to the back of your wreath. Staple twice for security.

Now we can start the fun part!

Basically, you can be free with this. Just cut out strips of you materials and tie them to your base.

I added sections of wrapping paper to mine too, so that there was flat and 3d aspects to my wreath.

Just keep going around until you have filled your wreath. I used a variety of fabrics and I wrapped wool around sections too.

And that's is it!

Now, you can add other festive decorations/Christmas gift tags to the wreath, if you wanted more embellishment.

Just experiment & have fun with this cheap and easy DIY.

I have also put together a pinterest board of different Christmas DIYs for you guys to try, if you get the handmade Christmas bug, like I have! I just wish I had time to make more things! I will be adding more to it throughout blogmas, so check it out every so often!

Also, this DIY has been added to my DIY pinboard, if you would like to check that out.

See you tomorrow for Blogmas day four!
Bye
