Today, I felt like doing a chatty style post, and this has been on my to-do list (blog-wise) for a while, so here it goes.
AHHHHHH! After all the stress this year has put on me, it is now finally over! Joking aside, I have truly loved this course and I am going to miss it so much. I made so many amazing friends, become really close with some of my tutors and the way I work has changed so dramatically.
I would recommend doing an Art & Design Foundation course for anyone who wants to do an Art & Design based degree. For me, it helped improve my way of working to a more degree level standard from an A level one. They kind of go back to basics and undo all the bad things you were taught at GCSE and A level.
The course is split into 3 stages. At stage one, you try out different topics from all over the art & design spectrum. On my course, we did 1/2 day projects for a few weeks and then progressed onto 4 days/1 week/ 2 weeks projects. They try to push you and help you to realise which section you should go in for stage 2 and 3. Stage 2 is when you pick a pathway from either Fine Art, Fashion & Textiles, Visual Communication and 3D. You do 1 week/2 week and 3 week projects for about 9 weeks. They are based upon the pathway you have chosen. Then Stage 3 is your final major project. You decide the subject matter and the tutor from your stage 2 pathway guide you through it. To get to each stage, you have to pass the previous one. Stage three is where you get assessed for either Pass, Merit or Distinction.
