Product Battle : Dry Shampoos
Dry shampoo is something I can't live without, but I am always on the look out for 'the one'.
I want to find the best dry shampoo. One that smells amazing, works well and doesn't cost a fortune. That shouldn't be too hard to find, should it?
I dye my hair a lot, with various bright colours, so I am always looking for a dry shampoo that doesn't leave a white powder on my hair, as it can be really noticable. Also, because I dye my hair, I don't want to wash it everyday, as that will fade the colour quicker. This is why I love using a good dry shampoo!
I have been putting a variety of brands to the test, and I think I have found my current favourite dry shampoo, that everyone should try! Plus, some sprays that shouldn't even be tried!
The COLAB range by Ruth Crilly (A Model Recommends on Youtube / Blog) is a great dry shampoo to buy, if you are on a budget. You can get them in a variety of different scents and in two different formulas; Sheer + Invisible and Extreme Volume. Personally, I prefer the Sheer + Invisible range, as I already have thick/volumous hair, so I just use dry shampoo to freshen up my hair in between washes. My favourite scent is London/Classic, as some of the others are a bit too overpowering for me, but I know plenty of people who love the other scents. They don't leave a white powder in my hair, they are lightweight feeling and smell great! I would totally recommend these dry shampoos, but they aren't my number one. (They are a very close second though!)
Batiste is a classic dry shampoo, that everyone in the beauty world has used and loved. I like Batiste, but has never been a 100% favourite of mine. It was the first dry shampoo I ever purchased (all those years ago), and it kickstarted my obsession with finding the perfect dry shampoo. I do really like this dry shampoo, as it smells nice and refreshens my hair, but it does leave a little bit of a white cast on my hair. That is the only downfall for me. If you need a dry shampoo on a budget, and can't find the COLAB ones near you, I would stick to the classic Batiste.
This is my current number one dry shampoo! I am slightly obsessed with its scent, which is unusual for me, as I normally don't like strong scented hair products. However, this one smells so good, that I can't help but love it! Yes, it is a little more expensive in price, than other highstreet/drugstore dry shampoos, but it is still not a crazy price. Plus, it is totally worth the £5.99, in my opinion. It doesn't leave any residue in the hair, it's lightweight, it de-greases the hair amazingly, and it smells great. It's just an all-round winner in my eyes, and it will take something special to knock it off the top spot.
Now, these three dry shampoos are not worth trying.
(I purchased mine in Boots for £6.99, but they have discontinued it online)
This one didn't really do much to my hair. When I first applied the dry shampoo, it look good. But after about 30 minutes, my hair started to look greasy again. I just feel like there are better dry shampoos out there, that are easier to get a hold of, and that are cheaper.
I won't be buying this one again.
Again, this one didn't really do much. This was meant to refreshen your hair from grease, but to also give life back into your colour, with having to redye it. Obviously, your hair colour wasn't going to look brand new, but I just felt like this didn't do anything at all. It didn't even freshen up my hair that well. My main issue is that the spray nozzle broke, and I have read that this has happened to quite a few people, so I would give this spray a miss.
I was really happy with this dry shampoo as the actual product itself is great, but the nozzle broke on the spray, just like the Aussie one. I have read a fair few reviews saying that this happened to them too, so I didn't repurchase it. I actually really liked the product but I don't want to waste my money on a spray that could break. If they re-package it, then I will most likely buy it again.
Overall, I would recommend the Fudge Urban dry shampoo, COLAB dry shampoos & Batiste dry shampoos; in that order. They all just seem to work well, and don't cost a huge amount of money either.
If any of you have suggestions for other dry shampoos (highstreet/drugstore or high-end), leave a comment below, and I will consider doing a part 2 of this battle.
What's your favourite dry shampoo?
