Beauty Monday - Favourite Beauty Products from 2014
Hi, I'm back!!!
Sorry for not posting in such a long time but university life got in the way. But, I have come up with a better schedule so that I post EVERYDAY. Yes, everyday. I used to post every week day but I am planning to post on Saturday and Sunday too. Saturday is going to be called Student Saturday, where I post about what I have done at University during the week. Sunday is going to be called MWIP Sunday (My Week In Pictures), where I share my favourite instagram and other photos from the week. I just think that these will help you all to get to know me a bit better.
Anyway, todays post is my beauty favourites from 2014!
Enjoy!
Base makeup
Primer - Benefit Porefessional Primer
Foundation - Rimmel Match Perfection in 010 Light Porcelain
Concealer - Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in 01
Highlighter - AVON Magix illuminator in Illuminating light
Contour - NYX powder blusher in Taupe
Before 2014, I had never been able to get on with primers or even find a foundation pale enough for me. However, both wishes were granted when I started to use Porefessional and Match Perfection. The primer helps to keep my makeup in place for a lot longer and doesn't make my dry skin worse, which is always a good thing! I love the light/medium coverage this foundation gives and the colour is a great match, Like everyone else, the collection concealer is a staple in my makeup collection. I use it all over the face to conceal any dark circles, redness or blemish, as it gives amazing coverage and doesn't flake on my dry skin. On days when I want a slight 'natural' highlight, my AVON illuminator is perfect. I apply it across cheekbones, cupids bow, down my nose and a bit on my forehead, to give a natural glow/highlight to the face. This year saw me try out cream blushes and this one by Soap & Glory stuck with me. I just love the colour and how buildable it is. Also this year, I found the one bronzer that doesn't make me look orange/muddy! Finally! I adore this bronzer from The Body Shop and it is perfect for pale girls! Before 2014, I was afraid of contouring my face, even though it needed it! But, when I was reading Miss Makeup Magpie's blog, I stumbled across this NYX blush that is perfect for contouring pale skin. The One Heck of a Blot powder from Soap & Glory has been a god send this year. Before, I used to use powders that were making me look cakey or ones that worked fine, but the cases broke easily. This powder is amazing at mattifying the face but without looking cakey. Plus, the packaging is super sturdy.
Eye makeup
Brows - Primark brow pencil in Medium
Eye Primer - AVON eyeshadow primer in Light Beige
Liquid liner - Soap & Glory Supercat liner
Creme shadow - Calvin Klein Tempting Glimmer sheer creme eyeshadow in Sage Shimmer
Single shadow - Dainty Doll shadow in Teach me tiger 003
Palette - Urban Decay Pulp Fiction palette
Mascara - AVON Aero Volume mascara in Black
2014 was all about the brows for me. I stopped over-plucking them and started to fill them in. This pencil has stuck by me ever since I got it. Out of all the Primark makeup I have tried, this brow pencil is my favourite item. I couldn't live without it right now! My makeup all-over has transformed in 2014, so much so, that I now use eye primers. The one I kept going back to throughout the year is from AVON. The skin tone colour is a perfect match for my eyelids and evens the skintone out. I have also noticed that my shadow lasts a lot longer now. I used to be all about the liquid liner flick but I have changed my look for a soft shadow along the lashline. However, there are some times when I really fancy wearing a black liquid flick, so I use Soap & Glory's Supercat. Everything about it is perfect. The nib gives me the right amount of control and the pigmentation is incredible. Pencil liners in brown and black have been a staple in my makeup bag for years. I used to use AVON liners, but I thought that I would branch out to other brands this year. The Soap & Glory Smoulder Kohl pencils are amazing along the waterline. The black is super black and the brown is a lovely chocolate shade. They last all day for me and they are waterproof. What more could you ask for from a pencil liner. Some days I don't have a lot of time for a full shadow look, so I just throw on a creme shadow and then layer one powder shadow over the top to set. My favourite creme shadow this year is my Calvin Klein one. It is a gorgeous rust/bronze colour that makes my blue eyes pop. Another shadow that makes my eyes pop is Teach me Tiger from Dainty Doll. I never thought that I would ever wear an orange toned shadow, but this one is so beautiful on the lid! In 2014, my palette collection increased so much that I found it really hard to pick just one! I managed to do it though. Ever since I purchased my Urban Decay Pulp Fiction palette, I tend to use it nearly everyday. It is just a perfect everyday neutral matte palette, with 1 shimmer highlight shadow and a black shadow for liner. I love the packaging and it is perfect for when I travel home for a weekend from uni, as I don't need to bring any other shadows with me. Mascara was a hard choice as I am a mascara junkie, but for the first time in my life, I have found a waterproof mascara that I love. AVON mascaras are my favourite mascaras, so I really shouldn't of been surprised by how much I liked this mascara. It gives me big volumised lashes with no clumps and is buildable.
Lip makeup
Other - MAC Rocky Horror Picture Show collection in Sin
In 2014, I perfected my favourite nude lip combo. I fell in love with the Kylie Jenner lip look, so I tried many products to achieve a flattering version of it for me. This cheap Essence lip liner all over the lips, topped with an old favourite Rimmel Kate lipstick of mine, is a perfect combo. To give it an even more 90s supermodel/Kylie Jenner feel, I lightly go around my lips after with my brow pencil and then gently buff it in. However, a bold lip is my favourite kind of lip. I purchased three of the L'Oreal reds and Blake is my favourite. I just love the way it looks against my pale skin. I think my number one favourite lipstick of the year is my very first MAC purchase. I couldn't resist the Rocky Horror Picture Show collection and this dark, matte purple shade (Sin) is incredible. I have worn it so much since I purchased it.

Brushes & Lashes
Brush brand of the year - Real Techniques
Other favourite brush - ELF Eye blending brush
Top lashes - Eylure Pro-lash individuals / MAC 7 (RHPS Case)
Couldn't have a yearly favourites with mentioning Real Techniques. I adore all of the brushes I own by them but these are my chosen top three. All of the brushes are so soft, well-made and make putting on makeup a dream. The only other brush that I own, that I couldn't live without is my ELF Eye Blending Brush. Something about this brush is magical. It fits perfectly in the crease of my eye and blends shadows beautifully. 2014 will be known as the year I perfected putting on lashes! Never again will I have trouble putting on fake lashes. Both of my lash favourites are a dream to wear and to put on.
Hair products
I don't have many haircare favourites from 2014 as nothing really stands out to me, other than these two from Bleach London. As a constant hair-dyer/bleacher, my hair can become dry/life-less looking. The reincarnation mask is perfect for fixing that problem. I am still planning on doing a full review of this soon, so if you would like to read that, then let me know. The swamp spritz is a sea salt spray that adds texture to my hair when it is looking a bit limp. When I added shorter layers to my hair this year, this spray added texture to them.
Skincare products
Taking off my makeup at the end of the day has become a lot easier thanks to Micellar Water and Cleansing balms. The Camomile Cleansing butter is amazing for soothing the skin whilst breaking down all my makeup, even waterproof. I know I couldn't live without this cleansing butter now. However, I can be too tired (or drunk!) for a full cleansing routine to remove my makeup sometimes, which is where micellar water comes in. The one by Garnier is great for removing my makeup during those times. The Body Shop has become my hero for my dry skin. This serum-in-oil is amazing at helping to cure my dry skin overnight. Another must have product from 2014. Even though this AVON face mask can be a little drying on my skin, it is great for unclogging my pores/blackheads on my nose, forehead and chin. I love how deep of a clean it gives.
Bodycare products
Philosophy Raspberry Glazed shampoo/shower gel/bubble bath
All of the Soap & Glory body products are amazing but this scrub is so good at removing dry, dead skin from my body. I have slightly sensitive skin and harsh scrubs can aggravate it. However, this soft yet grainy scrub, doesn't make me itch and leaves me with soft skin. Plus, the scent is so fresh and zingy, which is perfect for waking me up in the shower. Another Soap & Glory product I have adored is Heel Genius. I have never given my feet any thought, but I kept noticing that I was getting flakey skin on my feet, which is disgusting. So I tried this, and I haven't stopped using it since! My final yearly favourite product is Raspberry Glazed. I don't use it in the shower or as shampoo, but I adore using it for bubble bath. It creates tons of bubbles, moisturises my skin and smells incredible. It has made me want to try more Philosophy bath/shower products.
Well, that was a long post!
I hope you enjoyed seeing what I loved using during 2014.
