Lifestyle Thursday - New Baby Gift
Today's lifestyle Thursday is a DIY. Last year, I created this photo album for my sister's best friend when she was having her first baby. As they didn't know what gender the baby would be, I went for neutral tones and Baby Mehta, which is the baby's last name. You can write whatever you want on the front, using whatever font too. You can choose the colour scheme too.
What you will need:
A4 ring binder folder
Printed A4 sheet of text
Scissors
Sewing machine
Thread
1/4 metre of fabric for text
1/2 metre of fabric for folder
Stuffiing/wadding
Pen
Pins
Staples
Stapler
Once you have your printed lettering, cut it out carefully and place the wrong-way-round on the chosen fabric. Draw around the letter on the fabric and cut out.
Wrap chosen fabric around the folder for lettering placement. Make sure you pin the lettering in place so that you sew in the correct place.
Choose whatever colour thread you want and stitch around the edge of the letters. I picked a different shade of brown to contrast the grey letters.
Right, now we are getting to the fun part! Fold your chosen fabric around the the folder and staple the two short edges down whilst the folder is open. Now, you can stuff the folder. To do this, I have used toy stuffing. I placed it inbetween the folder and fabric and moved it around so that it was even.
I then stapled the rest of the edges down. Because of the stuffing, the staples shouldn't go through to the fabric on the other side.
And that's it! There is a quick way of making a homemade photo album for a new baby. However, you could use this basic DIY for a holiday album, wedding album etc. For the pages, I collaged and doodled different baby related pictures, leaving a rectangle(s) on each page for photos.
But you could do anything you wanted.
Hope you enjoyed this DIY.
