On Saturday (21/06/14), my sister and I went to the homecoming gig that Kasabian put on in Leicester. I am a huge fan of Kasabian, so to go to the gig that is not far from my house, was amazing. It was like a mini-festival in the centre of Victoria Park. 50,000 people were drinking and having a good time at the gig. Just everything about it was electric.
The set list from them was incredible. It had hits from every album, including their new number 1 album 48:13. The crowd were energetic and I sang along to every song.
I put together a Youtube playlist of the setlist, using this NME article to help me remember!

As it was a really hot day and festival-like, I wore my Dr Martens, tartan skirt, 'scream' vest crop top, long sheer black cardigan and printed suitcase-style bag. Makeup-wise, I went with a simple base with contour and bronze, nude lip and khaki-bronze shimmer eye shadow. For my hair, I thought I would do something a bit different and 'braid' a bit of my hair. I know its not really braiding but I have no idea what to call it!

My sister wore a netted black kimono, denim shorts (were jeans), black vest top, hunter wellies and (my) black floppy hat.

We went to a pub first for a few drinks, then we went to the gig for the support acts. We only got to see Rudimental, who were really good at warming up the crowd before Kasabian came on.
Being from Leicester, this was the biggest gig the city has seen for a long time, and one of the best. The park was packed out, everyone was proud of the Leicester lads and you could feel that they were proud to have put this show on.

"We started this band in 1997, me, Serge and Chris, and now we’re here and playing Glastonbury next week. Thank you."

"...guitarist Chris Edwards came up to the front for a rare moment. He said: "I never get a chance on the mic. So thanks Leicester. You've made my fucking year." "

It was truly one of the best gigs I have ever been to.
Thank you Kasabian for an incredible show.

Have any of you been to a gig/festival recently?

Bye
